Unity State Assembly takes oath

Governor Lt. Gen Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang yesterday Friday 11th March 2022 presided over the Swearing-in Ceremony of Unity State Reconstituted Transitional Legislative Assembly.

The oath-taking ceremony was administered by Judge Douth Kulang in the State Assembly’s premises.

In his keynote address to the MPs of Unity State Reconstituted Transitional Legislative Assembly, Governor Manytuil urged the lawmakers to work collectively to disseminate the message of peace, reconciliation and unity among the people of Unity State.

Governor Manytuil appealed to the honourable members to forget the past, but to forge new beginning in order to fulfill the expectations and aspirations of the people.

In addition, Governor Manytuil stressed to the members that “Bentiu First” is their motto to achieve everlasting peace and development in Unity State.

Deputy Governor Tor Tunguar Kuicguong said Unity State needs a competent Parliament that can implement laws and conduct business that favour the interest of the people.

On his part, Rt. Hon. Speaker Nanger Nger Baguot stressed the roles and responsibilities of the parliament.

He said that the parliament has an obligatory duty most specifically to unite the people of Unity State, and work to promote peace, reconciliation and development.
