Unity state supplies over 20,000 sacks of sorghum for IDPs

The government of Unity state under the leadership of Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang purchased over 20,000 sacks of sorghum.

It happened on Saturday 19th March, 2022. The ministry of youth culture and sports and also the acting minister of information and communication David Gai said the consignment consists of thirteen trucks loaded with the food items purchased by Unity state’s government from the Sudanese capital Khartoum to tackle food insecurity in the state due to the flood.

More than fifty percent of the population in the state has been displaced from their homes. David Gai said this food consignment will be distributed to the flood displaced persons across the state adding that the state government under the leadership of Dr. Manytuil is working to address the issue of food insecurity due to the influx of thousands displaced people across the state.

Gai said the state government is very concerned about looming hunger and starvation this year due to the devastating flood that destroyed crops and threatened the lives of the civilians.

He said Bentiu town is hosting more than thirty thousands (30,000) IDPS residing in three Camps of Bilnyang, Kuermadoke and Bimruok.
