A girl child from Aneet area has finally been reunited with her parents after they separated on February 10th 2022, following the violence between Abyei and Twic armed youths.

The girl named Akuet Alor Mijok, believed to be 8 years old, arrived in Panliet Awan of Warrap state, a distance of over 60 kilometers away from Aneet town.

While in Panliet Awan area, she was picked up and accommodated by Garang Liai Deng.

Two days ago, Liai reported the concern to relevant authorities and later on, the story went viral on social media.

“After hearing this, the fact finding committee headed by Vice President Hussein Abdelbagi took the child to Turalei where they were conducting the investigation. And on Wednesday evening, the committee went to Abyei town together with the child and finally got reunited with the parents” Tito Aken Mou in Paliet narrated.

Ayom Mijok Kuol in Abyei town said the parents of this young girl were totally hurt.

“It was difficult for us to control our emotions when the daughter of my cousin was missing for a long time. We didn’t know she was alive but finally we thank God. We thank Garang Liai for keeping her safe for us” Mijok said.

Abyei authorities have encouraged everyone to report any story of a child missing.

Authorities in Twic and Abyei reported the suffering of IDPs living in both areas due to lack of humanitarian support.
