Committee meets military officers over Aneet incident

The fact finding Committee to investigate Aneet incidents under the leadership of the Vice President for Service Cluster, H.E. Hussein Abdelbagi Akol Ayii and Governor Lt Gen Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang paid courtesy visit to Rumkor Military Baracks to assess and listen from the Joint Forces.

The Joint Forces from Div-7 and 3, Brigade 11 of Div-4, and Abyei Independent Brigade yesterday converged in Rumkor Military Unit, to brief the Fact Finding Committee on the challenges facing Joint Forces deployed to disengage the two conflicting sides (Twic and Ngok).

Addressing Joint Forces at Rumkor Military Unit, Hussein Abdelbagi Akol Ayii urged both Army Commanders and Authorities of Abyei Administrative Area to demonstrate their responsibilities of protecting lives of people and their properties. And above all the responsibilities to normalize the situations for the people to return to Aneet and continue with their usual activities.

In addition, Governor Manytuil who is also the Deputy Chairperson of Fact finding Committee said, the responsibility of Organized Forces is to protect the people and territorial integrity of the Country. Manytuil exclusively urged the Joint Forces to make difference and act according to the laws enshrined in the constitution. “Basically, the self-esteem and professional army which represents the symbol of South Sudan and maintaining law and orders but not tribes or Community”.Manytuil added.

Meanwhile, the Chief Administrator of Abyei Administrative Area Kuol Diem Kuol reiterated the commitment of his Government to calm and normalize the situation. Diem called upon the Youth of Abyei Administrative Area to accept peace with neighbors Twic. And he regarded the conflict that happened between Twic and Ngok as a shame.
