Illegal mining reported in Western Equatoria

The Government of Western Equatoria State yesterday announced that the state has learned about illegal mining in the area.

The announcement was made by the state minister of Information Isaac Mursal after the State Council of Ministers meeting No. 5 which took place on Tuesday this week.

Speaking to the media in Yambio State Headquarters, the State Minister of Information said the illegal mining in Ibba County was reported to the state Council of Ministers and the state has planned to apprehend the perpetrators.

“The Council of Ministers discussed and learned about the illegal mining in the state particularly in Ibba County and the suspects are believed to have come from Tonj of Warrap State,” he said.

“So far the state government is working hard to make sure the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to book,” he said.

In a related development, the state Information Minister said the state Council of Ministers also agreed to form a committee for the land issues.

 “The Council of Ministers also formed a committee to follow up the land issues of which the committee will comprise Ministry of Land and Public Utility, County Authority and Municipality,” he assured.

 “The Council of Ministers advised the committee to work in collaboration with each other, in addition the Council agreed to deploy the rate collector in Yambio Municipality so that they can join hand together to collect revenue,” Murshal said
