The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) has on Wednesday nominated Gianni Infantino as the candidate for the next FIFA presidential elections.
Earlier in 2016, the FIFA president Gianni Infantino visited South Sudan, the youngest country in the world which was plunged by a devastating civil war.
Infantino inaugurated the premises of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) and offered support for the construction of the Juba National Stadium.
Addressing the media in a joint press conference, the president of the SSFA Agustino Maduot Parek nominated Gianni Infantino as the candidate for the next forth coming FIFA presidential elections adding that the global football family has seen a massive development in football, citing that South Sudan was not left behind.
“I do like to congratulate you for this achievement during the past eight years as the FIFA President. South Sudan Football Association would like to acknowledge the FIFA President for his unwavering support towards the development of football in South Sudan,” he said.
Maduot revealed that they are anticipating to celebrate the completion of the national stadium which FIFA President Gianni sponsored adding that FIFA is supporting women’s football development and has so far supported South Sudan Women Cup, pledged to support interschool’s competitions and communication are underway for our national league for women besides FIFA pilot project on Menstrual Hygiene Education.
“For the first time in history of SSFA, FIFA endorsed our three positions for the women’s international referees and they are now actively doing their work. FIFA has also sponsored training for Elite Referees Assessors, first Goalkeeping course for our coaches in the country and many other opportunities we experience in the hands of Gianni Infantino- the man who has changed the face of football to be more better,” he added.
Agustino believes that the world governing football body is in safe hand of Mr. Gianni and we have unanimously endorsed him for presidency of FIFA in the next coming elections.
“We will always support and stand with Gianni in his mission and vision to continue bringing changes in the world Football, African continent and especially in South Sudan,” Augustino stated.
