Kiir Hosts Iftar Dinner for Muslims

His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday hosted Iftar dinner at the State house for the members of the Muslim Community as a sign of observing the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The guests who attended included the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny and the Vice Presidents for Service Cluster, Economic Cluster and Infrastructure Cluster respectively. Several government officials, heads of diplomatic missions in South Sudan, members of the Muslim Community also attended the event.

Speaking during the event, President Salva Kiir Mayardit said South Sudan is a diverse nation where the citizens of all faiths live together as South Sudanese family regardless of their different ethnic and religious groups.

He said that religion is one of the entities that play a greater role towards uniting people of God together through faith and belief.

President Kiir also encouraged the Muslim Community and everybody at the dinner to strongly maintain their faith and work hard towards maintaining the strong unity and faith among the believers.

“I am honoured to receive the members of the Muslim community and other invited guests to this occasion. South Sudan is a diverse nation where the citizens of all faiths live together as South Sudanese family regardless of their different ethnic and religious groups. Religion is one of the entities that play a greater role towards uniting people of God together through faith and belief. I encourage the Muslim Community and the entire body to strongly maintain their faith and work hard towards upholding the strong unity and faith among the believers,” he said.

However, he cherished the initiative played by the Muslim Community especially their heads concerning their full participation towards the peace process and called on other religions and denominations within the Christian congregation to work in harmony so that peace is manifested.
