The residents of Yei River County are being advised to distance themselves from wrong associates as they approach Labour holiday.

The Chairperson of Youth in Yei, Poru Johnson Hillary said during any celebration of holidays, there are many things to happen. He said as people celebrate, it should not affect their finances by spending a lot of money.

“I know that sometimes as Labour Day clocks like this there are many programs that come but it should not affect our finances. Many people when it’s the celebration of such days, you find them spending a lot of money in the name of celebrating and then you must take care of your life as well as your finance knowing that there is a day that will come after the celebration,” he pointed.

Mr. Johnson pointed out that Labour Day is a very significant day when it comes to public management and personal independence.

He further said when it comes to public management and personal independence, Labour Day is very important, stressing that, people should be at their homes; “You are supposed to be at home with your relatives with your family and friends.”

In addition, Mr. Johnson advised the young people to stay far from conflict and instead improve on agriculture to boost food production in Yei.

“As young people, we should deter conflict, torturing and avoid wrong groups that cannot give us hope that cannot make us productive as we strive to change our situation as young people in Yei and as well as this is the agricultural season. We expect that we improve on food production in Yei so that we deal with food insecurity,” he advised.

In his conclusion, he urged the government to put more effort to create employment for the young people.

“The government should put more efforts in creating more jobs and creating enabling environment where jobs can be created by the young people and the services can be consumed by the nation and even here in Yei,” he said.

The chairperson was giving his message ahead of the international Labour Day celebrations in Yei River County of Central Equatoria State.
