South Sudan, Congo agree to magnify security and infrastructure

South Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo yesterday agreed to improve infrastructure and security at the borders to boost economy and development activities.

This development came during an official meeting between Salva Kiir Mayardit the President of the Republic of South Sudan and Felix Tshisekedi the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The two leaders discussed a wide range of bilateral and multilateral issues concerning the Republic of South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In their meeting, the two agreed to improve the security and the infrastructure of areas bordering the two countries to ease facilitation of trading activities among the two nations.

Speaking to the Media, President Salva Kiir congratulated the President Tshisekedi and the Congolese people for the recent admission of the country to the Eastern African Community and termed it as an avenue for enhancing mutual cooperation in development areas.

“We met with the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo and agreed to work together towards improving the security and the infrastructure of the areas bordering the two countries. I congratulated President Felix Tshisekedi and the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo for their recent admission to the East African Community. The admission of Congo to the Eastern African Community provided an avenue for enhancing mutual cooperation in areas of trade, agriculture, infrastructure development and movement of the people across the borders of the two countries. Their admission will help us find ways to solve other issues affecting the two countries’’ he said.

On his part, President Felix Tshisekedi invited South Sudan to join the rest of the Eastern African Countries in the fight against issues that impede development.

“I need South Sudan to join the rest of the East African Countries in the fight against the negative forces that are obstructing strengthened cooperation, peace and security within the region’’ he said.

President Felix added agreed to strengthen the security between South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo at the border and promised to prioritise peace and harmony among the two nations.

“We discussed and agreed to strengthen the security between South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo especially at the borders and also rated peace, human security as top priorities in order to bring development to the two nations’’ President Felix said

In Continuation, President Felix reiterated the construction of road connecting South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo in order to enhance food security in the two Countries for the welfare of the people of the two nations.
