South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit with deep sorrow has extended his message of condolence to the family and the population of the United Arab Emirates for the untimely death of their late President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In a statement seen by No.1 Citizen Daily Newspaper yesterday, President Kiir was saddened and grieved upon receiving the message of Sheikh’s untimely demise at a moment where the two countries had committed to be working together towards development.
“I am profoundly saddened to receive the news of the passing of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates which occurred this morning (Friday),” Kiir said in the statement.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of South Sudan, I convey my heartfelt condolences to his highness’ family and the entire populous of the United Arab Emirates and Abu Dhabi. The untimely passing of Sheikh Al Nahyan while incredibly painful reminds us of the importance of legacy. South Sudan received tremendous support from the United Arab Emirates under Sheik Al Nahyan’s leadership, a great testimony to his desire and to share his vision of development with other countries,” he added.
President Kiir described the late as one of the leaders that shared South Sudan’s commitment to lasting peace and prosperity in the new nation.
He further stated that, through the new nation building process, the United Arab Emirates has stood firmly with South Sudan and worked tirelessly alongside the country as he strives to build the new nation.
Furthermore, President Kiir underscored that Late Khalifa would always be remembered upon his transformative vision leaving a legacy of progressive development in the United Arabs Emirates and the entire world.
“During this sad moment, the people of South Sudan stand in solidarity with the people of the United Arab Emirates during this mourning period. We will always remember Sheikh Al Nahyan upon his transformative vision which has left a legacy of rapid development in the UAE. May the merciful God comfort his family and rest his soul in eternal peace,” Kiir added.
