Manytuil & International community discusses peace implementation

The Governor of Unity State, Dr. Joseph Manytuil Wejang on Thursday 12 May, 2022 met with International Diplomatic Corps and Head of Missions in the Country on the issue pertaining security and the implementation of revitalized peace agreement.

The delegates comprised UNMISS’ Deputy Representative, RJMEC, and Ambassadors of Egypt, Norway, Sudan, Nigeria, AU, France, IGAD among others at the State General Secretariate.

The meeting also discussed issues related to recent fighting in Southern Unity between SPLA-IO forces and local youths of Koch and Mayiandit Counties.

In his remark, Governor Manytuil Wejang urged the delegation which comprised to take critical analysis into problems in order to find amicable solutions.

The Governor said that International Community should collect accurate information and remedy investigation into causes of recent conflict in Southern Unity before publishing their report.

Governor Manytuil also reiterated the commitments of his government to quell down situation in Southern Unity by disengaging conflicting youths.

He further called for a peaceful return of people to their respective homes since the situation is normal and calm.

He also urged Humanitarian Agencies to provide relief assistance to displaced persons in Southern Unity.
