One week’s blood donation campaign commenced in Yei River County yesterday, and more than a dozen people have voluntarily donated blood at Yei civil hospital on the first day of blood donation campaign.

Doctor John Manya, the technical advisor for the blood bank committee said that the hospital is in high demand for blood.

“Blood donation will help patients who are running out of blood especially pregnant mothers, people with difficult conflictions including the ones who have got accidents and they still need the blood from the bank to save their lives,” he said.

He points out that there are many patients running short of blood in the hospital and he urged people to continuously donate blood to rescue people’s lives.

He appreciated Medicines San Frontiers (MSF) for instituting a blood bank in Yei civil hospital.

John Mabe Charles, one of the blood donors disclosed that he chose to donate blood because he wanted to save lives by donating blood for people who were involved in accidents and pregnant mothers who need blood transfusion.

John appealed to the people to come voluntarily to donate blood in order to save someone’s life.
