The governor of Warrap State, Aleu Ayieny Aleu has conducted a public rally in Turalei of Twic County to address the insecurity within his State and the neighbours.

Governor Aleu was accompanied by State Ministers and lawmakers representing Twic county and leaders of organised forces in the state.

Addressing the gathering, Aleu uttered his sadness over renewal of clashes between Twic and Abyei.

“We have signed the agreement to end the fighting as we wait the resolutions from the investigation committee. We have agreed to the end of violence but what happened in the Twic and Abyei conflict remains unknown. What renewed the fighting after we have signed the agreement is heart-breaking,” Aleu said.

According to the Governor the attacks along the roads within Twic has resulted to the killing of 5 people in Majooknoon.

“We have arrested 7 suspects and we are still looking for one more suspect in connection to the killing of 5 people between Aweng and Ajak Kuac. The victims have been going to Unity state from Wau,” Governor Aleu confirmed.

“The government is not happy to see you losing lives for no reason. You must stop right now and give peace chance,” he continued.

For their part, the traditional chiefs of Twic county said they will cease violence with Ngok people of Abyei.

However, the chiefs blamed government especially the investigation committee for failing to monitor the implementation of ceasefire agreement.

The chiefs called for the deployment of neutral forces in Aneet and other insecure locations.
