WES Government urges partners to improve health facilities

  New Minister of health and partners in the Office of WES Governor

The Government of Western Equatoria State is calling upon the health partners to support and improve the health services in the state.

This development came following a round table meeting for the introduction of the new Western Equatoria State Minister of health.

According to the state authority, some health facilities have been cut off in the project of Health Pool Fund HPF, these are in the area of greater Mundri, Maridi and Yambio.

Speaking during the introduction of New Minister of Health James Abdullah Arona to state Health partners on yesterday, the governor of Western Equatoria State Gen. Alfred Futuyo Karaba said that some health facilities have been abandoned by the partners.

“Hon. Minister take those partners to your office and sit down to discuss the issues which has affected health services in the state, in Mundri there are health facilities cutoff, in Maridi and Ibba the same and lastly the Yambio state Hospital is also left out, there are no electricity, Water and Drugs in the store and people are dying” He said

Furthermore, Governor Futuyo outlined number of prioritized areas that the new Minister could put into deliberation with the partners.

“Here are the key areas which I need you Minister to discuss with them (partners) firstly the way forward to clean Yambio Hospital, secondly Partners who don’t have budget to implement what they were supposed to do should surrender the project to the government so that they can engage other partners who are willing, thirdly the areas or facilities cutoff should be reported to the state so that they seek other alternative to serve the communities who are left out” Futuyo outlined

Meanwhile Both Minister and partners appreciated the cooperation and step taken by the Governor to address the challenges facing the communities in the state especially in terms of health service

They promised to harmonize with the state Ministry of health to see how they can normalize the situation.

Governor Futuyo said that the Current Partners supporting health services in Western Equatoria State are UNMISS WHO, AAA, CMMB, HPF, WFP, UNICEF, World Vision, and ICAP.
