Governor launches probe into Kajo-Keji killing

The governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony has launched a fact-finding committee to lead investigation on the recent killing in Kajo-Keji County.

In a Gubernatorial order No.14/2022 seen by No.1 Citizen Daily Newspaper, Governor Adil instituted a fact-finding security committee led by the State Minister of Peace Building Francis Gerald. Francis will lead the independent investigations team to Kajo-Keji and gather information that led to the killing of civilians in Kiri Boma.

The incident happened after an SSPDF soldier was found dead in the area.

The formation of the committee followed a proposal from the Chief of Defense Forces of the SSPDF.

Lt. Gen Santino Deng Wol Chok on Tuesday 31st May 2022 formerly wrote a letter to Central Equatoria State governor proposing for the formation of an independent fact-finding committee to investigate the matter and come up with clear information from the ground.

CES governor’s order said the committee should independently launch a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances that led to the unsought shocking act.

In the order, the governor directed the committee to clearly find out the cause to killing and arrest of civilians by the SSPDF.

The order also indicated that the committee shall identify the victims and families of the three civilians killed.

Similarly, the order said the committee should establish identities of the perpetrators of the alleged crime and their motive behind the killing and instantly submit the findings to governor’s office.

Mr. Adil gave the committee a period of seven working days from the date of its commencement.

According to the Governor’s order, the five members committee comprises members from the executive and representatives from the state’s security agencies.
