Gen. Gatwich who is accompanied by senior members of the opposition faction is expected to meet the Sudanese authorities and discuss the fate of the peace agreement he signed with President Salva Kiir’s SPLM faction in January this year in Khartoum,

The Kitgwang faction military Spokesperson Col. Alfred Gach was quoted in media reports as saying “the Chairman and Commander in Chief of SPLA/M-IO Kitwang Gen. Simon Gatwich Dual has arrived this evening (Sunday) to Khartoum from the SPLA/M-IO Kitwang headquarters, Magenis”.

Gach said General Gatwich’s return to Sudan will assure the guarantors of his peace deal with Kiir and his commitment to ending the violence in the country through peaceful means.

“Gatwich was accompanied by a number of senior military commanders and his coming to Khartoum will help to assure the Sudan government his commitment for peace in South Sudan,” the Gatwich spokesperson noted.
