70 years old man commits suicide in Torit County

A 70-year-old man identified as Alferio Imoso on Thursday morning hanged himself to death in Haforiere village, Tirangore Boma of Hiyalla Payam, Torit County in Eastern Equatoria State

The deceased old man who took away his life, according to eye witnesses was on his way to the garden before hanging himself against a tree to death.

His body hanging on the tree was then discovered at around 6:00am by unidentified woman who was also on her way to the garden

However the reasons behind his death remained unclear but local authorities said the late might have been frustrated by the alleged criminal acts committed by his sons that brought about chaos and scarcity in the family.

Speaking to Voice of Eastern Equatoria State Radio in Torit, Thursday afternoon, Sanabio Tiya the Tirangore boma chief explained the incident.

The local chief urged the community members to stop suicides triggered by frustrations of the world challenges

He however said Haforiere village is peaceful and are in coexistence with their neighbors

Eastern Equatoria State youth leader Mr. David Orupi Uywek expressed dismay over the death of the old man due to the suspected atrocities committed by the late’s sons

He appealed to County authorities to ensure peaceful coexistence amongst communities are enhanced by overcoming crimes
