Jonglei gov’t, NGO ink deal to boost health services

Jonglei State’s Ministry of Health and Concern Citizen Health Awareness Organization (CCHAO) on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to boost health awareness and service delivery in the State.

The signed MOU will create avenues for training and sessions to educate societies on health matters, it will also promote reproductive health awareness and supporting existing primary healthcare units across the State.

Director-General in the State Ministry of Health, Chot Kueth and Dhieu Malual, the Chief Executive Director (CEO) of CCHAO inked the deal that will allow the organization to be mediator in health services delivery within communities.

They both agreed to coordinate on the areas of mental health, psychosocial challenges, and advocate for a society so that health matters are given equal attention.

During the signing ceremony that was witnessed by Minister of Health, Atong Kuol, the Director-General in the Ministry Kueth said they would work together for quality health services provision in State and hard-to-reach areas.

Mr. Kueth stressed that as Ministry of Health they are willing and ready to cooperate with non-governmental organizations to improve health services delivery in the entire Jonglei State.

He emphasized on the government’s need to meet its mission in providing health amenities through Primary healthcare centers/units in both town and a rural areas bargain was needed.

“To meet our mandate in providing health services in Jonglei State we need to work hand in hand with organizations” Kueth said.

The Director-General called in the State Ministry of Health on the citizens to cooperate with the organizations delivering health services in the State and at grassroots.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CCHAO, Malual said his organization would focus on Health Service Delivery particularly in the areas of health awareness both in Urban and Rural areas.

Mr. Malual promised to work hard to help the State Ministry of Health fulfill its mandates in providing essential health services and awareness to the rural areas in Jonglei state.

“We shall help the State Health Ministry and its departments in providing awareness in the remote areas of Jonglei State” Dhieu declared.

He lamented that since devastating floods hit Jonglei State local communities remain vulnerable to several diseases, as such cooperation was required to help the communities from preventable and treatable diseases.

“Communities are suffering with several diseases in the flood affected areas of Jonglei State, basically in the remote areas and this need as to do our best and coordinate work together and help them through awareness and provision of other health needs” he added.  

The CEO of CCHAO, assured their commitment to sensitized general public and raise awareness campaigns on HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, malaria, Typhoid among others disease that posed threat to communities.

Concern Citizen Health Awareness Organization or CCHAO – is national Non-governmental Organization working in South Sudan with mission of curbing several pandemics through awareness and provision of quality health services.
