Basketball victory changes country’s image

The Minister of Presidential Affairs Barnaba Marial Benjamin has cited the positivity that came along with the victory of the South Sudan Basketball Team

He stated that the victory had made the country to be recognized in a positive aspect than human right violation that South Sudan had often be chanted of.

 “The fact that our men basketball team has won and not just winning but have surprised the whole world. Today they are not talking about human right issues but asking themselves how comes this country has qualified and has gone beyond 60 countries ahead of them.” Dr. Barnaba said.

He was speaking during the inauguration of Berberi Academy for Training and Learning (BATL), a newly opened educational institution that specializes in capacity building and skills development.

The Presidential Affairs Minister lauded the men basketball team’s performance as great news that needed to be recognized as it has represented the image of the country positively.

“Our flag is flying and you might not notice it. We need also to recognize this and be jolly despite our challenges and our problems,” he cheered

Barnaba recognized the effort of the team saying, “this issue of basketball is a very important thing. It’s the potential; it’s the nature of our people. This is good news for us and we have to be cheerful”.

The South Sudan men Basketball has qualified to the FIBA World Cup 2023 African qualifier after beating Tunisia 72:64.
