Turkey donates over 200,000 military uniforms to Juba

The Turkey’s government through their embassy in Juba on Friday vows to donate 270,000 battle uniforms to the government of the Republic of South Sudan.

This came on Friday as the Turkey’s Embassy in Juba host the 11st independence Anniversary of South Sudan.

in the statement to the media the Turkeys Ambassador Erdem Mutaf said that his government have got extensive activities in south Sudan through  their development agencies that is the Turkey’s Red Crescent Society and the Turkey’s Cooperation Coordination office adding that they are trying to contribute to the south Sudanese nation in-terms of humanitarian activities, disaster relief, capacity building.

“We are working hard to establish the first Turkey’s Mari foundation international school in Juba. We have few procedures of things to be solved and then we shall have the transfer of land in the coming month here in Juba. Then the construction company in coordination w  in the Turkeys Marin Foundation will kick start their job here,” he said.

The Turkeys Ambassador lamented that they signed an agreement with the ministry of Defense that is a protocol of donation of military uniform to South Sudan and they will be altogether 270,000 pieces of materials including battle uniforms caps and many other things.

according to him the agreement was signed by the undersecretary on behalf of the ministry of defense witnessed by the minister Angelina Teny who is the minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs citing that the second thing will be the signing of the protocol by the Turkey’s Ministry of Defense after completing the procedure the uniforms will then be delivered to South Sudan.

Meanwhile Mayen   Dut Wol the undersecretary from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said that South Sudan and Turkey enjoy excellent relations based on mutual understanding since then Turkey was the first Country to recognize the south Sudan independence therefore the strong bilateral ties between the two countries started back in 2011 however this year marks the eleventh anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Turkey and South Sudan.

“Bilateral relations between the two countries have been exemplary which reflects in all aspects of interaction, Turkey have been support the implementation of the Revitalized peace Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan in various ways Turkey donated 21 tons of food items in 2020, 11 tons of food again in 20221 to the government of South Sudan to meet the needs of the people in the cantonment sites,” he said.

Dut further explained that Turkey help to the government of South Sudan to expedite security sector reforms in the lines with the Revitalized peace agreement on the other hand in case the pending bilateral ties in many fields are concluded with turkeys support will be more reinforced.

He mentioned that Turkey has been one of the donor to the intergovernmental authority on development to support the government of South Sudan to achieve lasting peace. Turkeys airlines has created opportunities to the people of south Sudan and other destinations perhaps it has help in busting relations between the two sisterly countries and therefore strengthening economic ties increase employment  to the young people

“10 ambassadors and 85 young south Sudanese diplomats have received trainings on political issues, foreign policy mediations and negotiation techniques from Turkey as part of our economic, political and cultural dimensions of our relations Turkey’s efforts in the fields of humanitarian support, development and education through Turkeys agencies are not wealth but this collaboration with the relevant government ministries to reach the right people who are in need,” he explained.
