Kiir receives outstanding peace Roadmap

President Salva Kiir Mayardit received a Roadmap that will guide the country in its transition towards the end of the interim period and pave way for the country to conduct a Peaceful and Democratic Elections as required by the agreement.

This news development was disclosed by the office of the President as it reported on its official Facebook Page on Friday that the government committee tasked to the work out the roadmap met the President and handed over the document.

The Roadmap was presented to President Salva Kiir Mayardit at State House J1 by the Committee he tasked to look into the status of implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement.

The document included the implemented, ongoing and the outstanding provisions, and come up with a roadmap that will guide the country towards the end of the Transitional Period in a peaceful manner and to conduct democratic elections that will usher in an elected Government.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit, after being presented with the Roadmap, then directed the committee to present the document in a meeting of the Presidency scheduled for next.

The Members of the Committee who meet the President comprised; Tut Gatluak Manime, Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs, Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Mayiik Ayii Deng, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Michael Makuei Lueth, the Minister of Information, Communication and Postal Services.

However, the committee lacked components of the opposition parties’ representative who are signatories to the Revitalized Agreement and peace partners serving in the same Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (R-TGoNU).

The committee purely composed of one party to the agreement that’s the Incumbent Transitional Government of National Unity (ITGoNU).

In his statement to the media, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro said, it has not been an easy process looking through the status of ongoing implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement, consulting various institutions and stakeholders.

He however said at the end, they are able to come up with a Roadmap that will guide the country to the end of the Transitional Period and conduct elections in a peaceful and democratic manner.
