The Yei River County health surveillance officer, Bidali Martin said they have confirmed three new Covid-19 positive cases in the County in the last few days.

He said the 3 cases are now under close follow up and supervision in Yei River County of Central Equatoria State.

Bidali stated that from Thursday last week up to this week they were able to confirm three positive cases of Covid-19 which makes sixty cumulative positive cases of Covid-19 registered in Yei Civil Hospital with seven cumulative number of deaths in the whole County.

“In fact, from Thursday last week we were able to confirm three positive cases of Covid-19 that bringing sixty cumulative number of positive cases. Out of that sixty we have six cumulative Covid-19 related deaths and fifty recoveries who were discharged,” Bidali said.

“Currently we have the three confirmed cases in Yei Civil hospital under follow up for fourteen days and when the result comes negative they will be discharged,” he added.

The surveillance officer said the positive cases registered in the County are only within the town.

“These cases that we suspected are just within the town because for us is not advisable to tell the public where the location is for people to know as we are still following them for the period of fourteen days and all of them are doing very well,” he noted.

“I am encouraging the public to take vaccine because it’s for free and those current cases that we confirmed we realized that all of them were not vaccinated as many people are not adhering to the Ministry of Health and WHO directives since the vaccine is safe without complications,” Bidali pointed out.

He urged those who have not taken the jab to voluntarily turn up for vaccination to curb the spread of Covid-19 so that they remain protected.

Bidali further appealed to the public to believe that Covid-19 is real saying if one is not vaccinated he or she will easily be affected with the virus and if someone is vaccinated, he or she will only have mild symptoms.

“The Ministry of Health doesn’t bring wrong or false vaccines so let all people of Yei River County get vaccinated and we are targeting the whole Payams of Yei River so that they get vaccinated,” he underscored.
