Over five hundred patients suffering from hemorrhagic sickness have received treatment in Unity State.
Majority of the patients are Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camping in Bentiu Town according to the State Ministry of Health.
“The patients being treated are 569. The disease is caused by some many issues including poor hygiene. As Ministry of Health, the partners have stepped in to help the patients,” said acting State Minister of Health Stephen Tot Chieng.
“The surgery was being conducted in seven counties in Unity State and involves the promotion of hygiene and sanitation among the locals here,” Tot added.
Mr. Gatluak Geay Malual is one of the patients who benefited from the hemorrhagic treatment exercise conducted in the Bentiu. The beneficiary said each of the patients was charged some money to receive the surgery treatment.
“We paid money for the treatment. Each of us paid 150,000 South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) before the surgery,” Gatluak stated.
Dr. Abatar Jabel is the medical doctor conducting the surgery. He noted that the “the hemorrhagic disease that is both internal and external are treatable after the payment of an amount equivalent to $300 because they are business profit making company.
“We aim to help the people who don’t have capital to travel abroad for treatment,” Dr Abatar underscored.
“Since I started this, I managed to operate 18 patients successfully at my pharmacy within three days,” he disclosed.
