One man has been shot dead and two children abducted by suspected Murle youth from Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) in Jie of Kasengor Payam of Kapoeta East County, Eastern Equatoria State on Sunday evening.
Kapoeta East Commissioner Abdallah Anjelo Lokeno who confirmed the incident said, the abductors went away with the children and in the process, they also gun down a young man who was moving along the road around Khordit and Laweyapur road in Kasengor payam.
Abdallah Anjelo added that, after the people heard about the incident, they started running to follow the footmarks and they found that they (attackers) were heading to Greater Pibor Administrative Area, and after pursuing them for long distance they gave up and came back.
The commissioner said, they are currently in contact with Pibor authorities to help track the abducted children and help restore hope to the family of the abducted children.
Meanwhile the area Member of Parliament representing Kasengor payam in Jie Hon. James Lotabu condemned the repeated criminal acts and called upon the Pibor administrators to act swiftly in order to recover the abducted children.
Lotabu stated that he has learnt from the ground Monday morning about the suspected Murle youth who came and went away with the children.
The area MP has appealed to the authorities of Greater Pibor Administrative Area to track the abductors and bring them back to their family.
The stolen children were rearing cattle around Kasengor nearby village not very far from their residence merely to be heard that, they were taken away, the other person was shot dead while innocently moving by the road side.
They also urged the State government to quickly intervene in order to rescue the abducted children.
Efforts to reach Greater Pibor Administrative Area officials on the matter were futile by press time as repeated phone calls to the officials went unanswered.
