Police in Moyo district arrest suspected armed robbers

The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Uganda’s Moyo district Gore Goffin, has assured the people of the district of guaranteed security.

Gore told No.1 Citizen Daily Newspaper that the District Security Committee that he chairs has restored order and calm in the district by apprehending the criminals who have been terrorizing the wanainchi in what he termed as an organized crime that witnessed residents and road users lose properties and millions of shillings to the racket of criminals who had taken over roads in the district to waylay people at night.

“We have arrested the ring leaders, and still looking for more,” she stated.

Gore confirmed that the District Security Committee has cleaned up the district of the racket of criminals by apprehending them and their leadership to face the justice.

At least more than a dozen of the suspected criminals have been arrested and prosecuted in Courts of law.

Gore called on the general public to always be vigilant to identify characters in their localities and timely report them to his office for timely security interventions as he notes that he has a security team of new people who have the energy to crack down cases of the insecurity dubious in the district.

“It’s your responsibility to alert us with any information,” she added.

However, the RDC appealed to farmers to use the prevailing peace and stability to engage in serious agricultural production as rainfall pours in order to come out of poverty.

“What drags these people to steal is that they don’t want to engage themselves in farming,” she presumed.
