Woman succumbs to flash floods in Mundri

A 48 year old woman who was identified as Willma Daniel, a mother of three children has died in Amadi Payam of Mundri West County, Western Equatoria State over the weekend as a result of heavy flooding in the area.

The quarter council chair lady in Mundri Mrs. Regina Baugy confirmed the incident to No.1 Citizen Daily Newspaper yesterday.

She said the deceased woman got drown as she was carried away by flash flood water resulting from heavy downpour in the area when she was coming from her causal work in the nearby village.

“Willma Daniel went to fetch water from the river while she was coming back home heavy rainfall got her on the way and she died as a result of heavy flooding,” she said.

Regina advised the people not go to river while it’s raining because of the nature of the rainfall as the climate change rock the planet earth.

The Relief and Rehabilitation Commission chairperson for Mundri West County, Mr. James Friday affirmed that about thirty nine thousand seven hundred and eight six people have been affected by flash floods in Mundri based on comprehensive assessment conducted.

Early last week, Mundri West County Commissioner, .Zilipha Dawa Justin  held a joint meeting with Humanitarian organizations RRC, Church leaders, Community leaders and 32 quarter Council and heads of departments to discuss the issue pertaining the flood affected population to get necessary support to the Internal Displaced People in Mundri West.
