Governor Dr. Joseph Manytuil Wejang on Monday attended a thanksgiving ceremony organized by Jikany Youth Association in honor of his extraordinary flood response and rendering of basic services to the flood victims across Unity State.
The thanksgiving ceremony was attended by dignitaries from national and state Levels, as well as MPs and advisors from Guit County, including youth and women leaders from Juba (IDPs) PoC.
Addressing Jikany Youth and Intellectuals at Landmark Hotel in Juba, Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to Jikany Youth Association, and most importantly to Jikany Community residing in Juba IDPs camp for being supportive and acknowledged the positive contribution towards building sustainable peace and better Bentiu by the state government.
Governor Manytuil also reiterated the commitment of his administration to fight for youth employment and youth empowerment in all sectors, and squarely supports the ideas of youth to be self-employees or self-reliance on which he pledges to provide financial assistance to the micro business activities.
In addition, Governor Manytuil urged Jikany Youth and Intellectuals to rally behind the leadership of H.E President Salva Kiir Mayardit to build peaceful and prosperous Unity State. Manytuil further called upon the Jikany Youth and Intellectuals to join hands together with State Government to deal with revenge killing and targeting of Intellectuals in Guit County, where he also promised to support Jikany Community Conference to address the issue of revenge killing and insecurity affecting peace and stability in the area.
Cde. Hon. Samaan Chotyier, the State Legal Advisor and SPLM Unity State Secretary appreciated Governor Manytuil for the unwavering support to the people of Guit County. Cde Samaan Chotyier called upon Jikany Community Youth to join Governor Manytuil to save the lives of people of Unity State and Guit County in particular from flood. And strongly advised Jikany Youth to distance themselves from negative politicians who are seeking for individual interests.
On his part, Sir Matut Ruai Gol, Chairperson of Jikany Youth Association said the entire Jikany Youth and Intellectuals recognized the commitments and devoted services provided to the people of Unity State and Guit County in particular by governor of Unity State. Sir Matut added that, the purpose of organizing the thanksgiving ceremony was to honor and give special thanks and appreciation to Governor Manytuil for restless commitment in providing basic necessities and flood response that resulted into saving the lives of our people displaced by flood.
