Police authorities in Unity State have reported that the rate of crimes have increased in recent days in Bentiu town including the IDPs camp.
Speaking to No.1 Citizen Daily Newspaper, the Deputy police Commissioner David Matut Both said two suspects have been apprehended in connection to the criminal activities.
“As deputy commander of joint police forces in Bentiu IDPs camp, we arrested two people on Monday who are suspected for mugging humanitarian staff during the end of the month,” he said.
The Police added that growing insecurity has become rampant especially in October 2022.
“We are giving directives to security personnel to protect the lives our people in Bentiu IDPs camp, our duty as police officers is to protect the lives of our people, the people who are victims in this insecurity are the people who are working with humanitarian aid agencies, the reason is because at the end of the month they get money from the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) that they are working for,” he revealed.
