President Kiir ratifies 2022-2023 fiscal budget

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday received and assented into law the Appropriation and Financial Bills for the fiscal year budget 2022/2023 that’s passed by the Parliament in late September.

On Friday Rt. Hon. Jema Nunu Kumba, the Speaker of the transitional national legislative assembly submitted the appropriation and financial bills for 2022/2023 to President Kiir at state house J1 after which the President ratified the budget into law.

Lawmakers in the transitional legislature on 27 September passed a whopping budget of 1.4 trillion South Sudanese Pounds for the 2022-2023 financial year.

Speaking to journalists following the meeting between Kiir and Kumba, lawmaker Changkuoth Bichok Reth, the chairperson of specialized committee on finance and economic planning in parliament said “the Parliament had signed the fiscal year budget of 1.4 trillion South Sudanese Pounds for the fiscal year 2022/2023.”

He noted that “the fiscal budget will stimulate economic recovery and other sectors”.

Bichiock affirmed that President Salva Kiir on Friday received the fiscal year 2022/2023 budget, and signed into law the Appropriation and Financial Bills passed by the Parliament.

The National Budget and the Bills were presented to the President by Right Hon. Jema Nunu Kumba, Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly.
