Abyei faces random death of livestock

Abyei Administrative Area (AAA) acting Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Resources, Ajak Deng Miyen revealed that they are experiencing unnecessary death of livestock in the area.

He said the National Ministry of Livestock was notified about the occurrence and is set to conduct feasibility assessment in order to ascertain the causes of the random death of livestock in a laboratory test within AAA.

A team from the National Ministry of livestock comprised of a vet doctor and Laboratory technician are in Abyei to examine the rampant death of animal, according to a statement on Abyei Special Administrative Area Facebook page.

Thursday 27th October, a team from the national Ministry of Livestock and fisheries came to meet the Chief Administrator of Abyei Special Administrative Area, Lt. Gen. Kuol Diem Kuol to update him on the purpose of the visit in connection with recent random death of Livestock in the Area”.

Miyen said the Chief Administrator Kuol Diem had welcomed the team from the National Minister of Livestock and Fisheries.

Kuol however, expressed his government grave concern over the random death of Livestock due to the unidentified disease.

He hopes that the causes of this unnecessary death of Livestock in Abyei will be identified at the end of the Laboratory test.
