Hundreds of faithful gather to celebrate Centenary of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Chukudum town

Hundreds of Eastern Equatoria state faithful gathered in huge numbers to celebrate the 100 years Centenary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Budi County.

The celebration marks the first centenary in the county since its inception decades ago due to the persistent civil conflict in the then Sudan under the leadership of Omar El Bashir.

Archbishop of Juba Archdiocese Stephen Ameyu Martin Mula lead a delegation of clergy men and women into the occasion alongside the state Governor Louis Lobong Lojore and his state executive government plus the national and state lawmakers from Budi county to share the joy of their faith in Christ the King.

The high level delegation arrived in Chukudum on Saturday afternoon to celebrated and renewed their faith in Christ with communities in the county.

All preparation to commemorate the 100 years’ anniversary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus has all been completed and arrangements to hold the occasion on Sunday 30th October 2022, is at high gear as the town is overwhelmed with a blessing of cool weather and a storm of increased population within Chukudum town.

Several faithful in Chukudum town expressed their joy and happiness of Christ amidst them as they welcome the 100 years’ celebration tomorrow Sunday the 30th October 2022.

Hundreds of the faithful are still being expected into Chukudum town over the night to join their fellow brothers and sisters currently in the town of Chukudum town of Budi county in Eastern Equatoria State. The one hundred years’ celebration of faith in Christ in the Sacred Heart of Jesus program is due to commence from 7:00am till dawn for two days as the occasion will be coloured with presentation of speeches, testimonies and traditional dances to show sign of peace unity and progress in building the Church.
