The Ministry of Investment has appealed to the general public to be vigilant of fake Facebook pages created in the name of Minister Dr. Dhieu Mathok Diing with the purpose of conning people.

On October 4th 2022, someone created a fake account on Facebook in the name of Dr. Dhieu Mathok Diing Wol. Recently the “scammer posted on this account the following announcement: “Grants Applications”.

It added, “Applications are still ongoing following the grants worth $350 million we received from the International Monetary Fund, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the United             Nations Agency for Internal Development, and the Global Entrepreneurship Network. The program is targeted at trade, investment, and agriculture”.

The fake Facebook account said the attempt to offer grants is to boost business and organization to nourish nations’ financial situation, applicants are told to apply at this link fhtts://bit.ly/3TGIW60

That forced some business people to visit the office for grant chances, however Minister Diing warned the members of the public against conducting any business with the said Facebook page.

“The Ministry of Investment wants to inform in particular our valuable business community and the public at large that the ministry has not received a grant from anywhere, and the Minister of Investment has no account by name of Dr. Dhieu Mathok Wol as is mentioned on social media,” reads part of the public notice by the ministry.

The Ministry of Investment then asked business community and public to treat any information posted on social media obtaining Dr. Dhieu Mathok Diing’s name or picture with extra care so that they will not fall a prey. “The Ministry of Investment will take any necessary legal procedure to stop such damaging fake information and bring the criminal scammers before the court of law,” the letter further read.
