The representative of the defense lawyers of the victims of the plane crash that happened in Uror in 2021 yesterday said the fact that the aviation authorities had issued air tickets to the passenger in a cargo plane showed that it was legal.
The cargo plane belonging to South Supreme Airline crushed in Uror county of Jonglei after taking off leaving 8 passengers and 2 pilots dead.
A witness testified before the court last Friday at Malakia court presenting the names of the passengers who were onboard from Uror heading to Juba.
“They paid for the tickets and the money was collected as passengers by the company. They should not have allowed anyone if the plane was not meant to do that,” he said.
Monyluak Alor Kuol said the testimony from the witness still showed that the company takes responsibility for the safety of the passengers.
“Once the passengers get on a plane, the plane management knows about them,” he said.
He challenged the aviation authority and now matters are left to the court to take decisions on the case.
“We are very sorry for the airplane crash victims who passed away in an abnormal plane crash which have not been compensated, it is really unfortunate.”
Alor further added that the act that led to the plane crash was due to the unserious aviation company.
Makuei Puok Bai, the representative of the family of the victims said they are keen to hearing from the court of their procedure.
He said they are waiting on the judge decisions as they are fully aware of their rights.
“We are not convinced about the witness, all we know is we trust ourselves and have a right,” he said.
South Supreme is yet to unveil another witness on the 10th October 2022 to stand before court on the case of the passengers as it still battles in another court, the case of the victims (2pilots) who passed on in the plane crash.
