University lecturer kidnapped

The chairperson of the Academic Staff Association of the University of Bahr-el-Ghazal said he was kidnapped on Wednesday by unknown men who forced him into Primeo car on Wednesday morning and dropped him near Wau Hospital late.

Joseph Lual Dario said the incident happened when he was called by the national security on Wednesday morning to report to their office in Wau when a group of people drove in front of him and forced him to enter their car.

 “I had gotten a call from the security that I should go to their office, on my way, a Primeo car stepped in front of me. They forced me to enter the car and took me in a place I do not know” he narrated.

Joseph said the kidnappers tight his face and hands and drove away.

The chairperson of the Academic Staff Association, University of Bahr el Ghazal said he was terrified and worried of his life as the destination and intentions of the kidnappers were unknown.

“They held my hands pulling me inside a house where they locked me in, they did not talk to me or ask or even beat me. I was there till late” he described his ordeal.

Joseph said he was later dropped off to Wau teaching hospital by the kidnappers where he later acquainted himself with the location and got back home.

The lecturer said he has opened a case at the police against his unknown kidnappers.

He added that he was able to appear in the office of the National security yesterday (Thursday) where they (national security) denied any knowledge of the incident including other security organs.
