SPLM in Eastern Equatoria State to rally behind Kiir

By Ijoo Bosco

Eastern Equatoria state members have expressed their firmness to rally behind the party’s Chairman Cde. Salva Kiir Mayardit as he leads the Liberation party to serve South Sudanese.

In a joint SPLM top meeting held on Tuesday at state party headquarters most of its leaders have unanimously nominated Louis Lobong Lojore for membership in the party’s political Bureau.

A joint Executive and Parliamentary Caucus made the nomination at the party’s meeting in the State capital, Torit on Tuesday.

The state Party leaders and supporters say Eastern Equatoria had not been represented at the Politburo, and that the inclusion of Governor Lobong in the Political Bureau would make the State well represented at the top decision-making body of SPLM.

On his part, Lobong accepted the nomination, saying he respects the decision of the party and pledged to continue working for the success of SPLM.

The meeting also recommended massive mobilization and registration of SPLM members in all the eight counties of the State.

Last month, SPLM leaders in Juba decided to expand the membership of the Political Bureau, paving way for inclusion of new members from different States.
