By Adia Jildo

A road ambush reportedly laid by unidentified men in uniform along the Juba-Nimule Highway against a convoy of two buses and a Noah car has left three people dead and 32 others injured according to police report.

Police spokesperson Major General Daniel Justin Boula confirmed the incident to No.1 Citizen Daily Newspaper yesterday.

He said that the attack happened early Monday morning, on Passenger buses headed toward Nimule border town from Juba when the two buses and a Noah were attacked by the armed men in uniform leaving 3 passengers feared dead and 32 others injured who were rushed to Juba for medical attention after an intervention force hit the scene of the incident.

“An ambush happened between Nyerjebe and Obama along Juba-Nimule Road where 3 vehicles at 10am were attacked,” Daniel said. “As a result of the attack, we happen to lose 3 lives. 2 women and a man. 32 others were wounded,”

Police spokesperson said eye witness accounts revealed that the attackers were dressed in green uniform.

The police said the corpses have been brought back to Juba while other two foreigners who have been injured were taken to their country of origin to receive treatment.

He said forces have been deployed to normalize the situation for travelers to use the road.

“The highway is very secured now because we have forces on the ground. I assure the passengers that the road is safe,” he said.

No culprits of the attack however have been apprehended so far though forces are still in pursuit of the attackers as they were in uniform.

This recent Juba-Nimule Highway bloody ambush comes barely a week after another ambush along the Juba-Torit Highway by armed assailants on a commercial truck carrying goods from Juba to Torit last week left one person dead and two others injured.
