President Kiir signs four Bills into law

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has yesterday signed four bills into law which were passed by the Transitional National Legislative Assembly and were forwarded to the President for assenting into law as required by the Transitional Constitution of South Sudan.

This development was disclosed by the Office of the President in a statement posted on its official Facebook Page on Wednesday evening.

The four Bills includes; the constitution Making Process Act 2022; the Transitional Constitution of the Republic of South Sudan 2011 (Amendment) No.11 Act, 2022; the National Police Service, (Amendment) Act 2022 and the National Wildlife Service, (Amendment) Act 2022.

Speaking to the media after the President signature on the bills, the Speaker of the National Legislative Assembly, Right Honorable, Jemma Nunu Kumba said those laws assented are related to the implementation process of the peace agreement.

She disclosed that other new acts have been submitted to the President and will be assented to law in the course of this week.

The Speaker further revealed that the Parliament has also submitted before the President five new Bills on security, Anti- Corruption, Referendum, Public Finance, and Accountability respectively.

Nunu also said that Parliament has rectified five Conventions, and International Treaties on economic and political act.

The Protocol to the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights on the rights of women in Africa, International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural rights as well as International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, ICCPR.

Others include the Paris Agreement and the International Covenant on the rights of persons with disabilities, 2006.
