President Kiir cautions S. Sudanese against violence

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has warned citizens of South Sudan against insecurity, development and connectivity through communal violence – calling them to embrace peace and unity to foster economic growth and security.

He said this during the ground breaking Ceremony of the construction of Bor-Ayod-Malakal-Renk highway.

In a statement extracted from the Presidential Facebook page, Kiir said peace is the only pillar to foster togetherness among the citizens as well as speed up development.

President Kiir demonstrated his commitment to ensure construction of more roads in South Sudan to top up other established roads in the country.

“You need to shun communal violence and embrace peace to foster development and stability in the state as well as boost connectivity, trade and security in the region” Kiir said.

President Kiir reiterated that communities of Jonglei especially of Bor should unite and work towards transforming the State into a better place for all.

The President added that the launched road would help the citizens of Bor to easily access services of all kinds as required.

On his part, Taban Deng Gai, the Vice President for Infrastructure thanked (ARC), the local construction company for having created jobs for the local community following a series of unemployment.

He said that through such projects unemployment across the country would be mitigated and most youth would be focused.

“I thank ARC local construction company for employing the local population in carrying the task of doing the job. It is one way to keep them busy and get something for themselves” Taban said.

Meanwhile, Kuol Manyang Juk, the Senior Presidential Advisor called on the citizens to help government pave more roads to enable access to services across the country.

However, Simon Mijok Mijak the national Minister of Roads and Bridges appreciated President Kiir for choosing construction of roads as a first priority across the region.

Finally, Denay Jock Chagor, the governor of Jonglei State appreciated President Kiir’s initiative of launching the construction of the road calling all the citizens to support the move.
