Dar Charity Women Association has renovated the Out Patience Department (OPD) and emergence ward at Al-Saba children Hospital as part of their social corporate responsibility.
The community-based organization – DCWA in collaboration with Roof Over the Head Organization also donated six boxes of Lato milk to children at the emergence ward.
Executive Analyst for Planning at DCWA, Lona Alex said the initiative started two years ago in which they visited orphanage, offered some medical equipment and did some general cleaning at Juba Teaching Hospital.
“This time we come to Al-Saba Hospital, … our visit is not because we need to do a lot of work but our initiative is for renovation and charity [work], it’s a small work but can make change,” Lona who is also a chair-lady of Al-Sabah Hospital said.
Ms. Lona also appealed to well-wishers to pay courtesy visit to the Hospital and give helping hands.
She decried that all verandas are spoiled and most patients sleep on floors due to lack of enough beds and space.
“We are appealing to our fellow South Sudanese whom God have blessed with small money, if you have a heart of helping come and do some small assistance like the way we did, God will bless your humanity, and we did our small [help] but it has a lot of meaning,” she pleaded.
For her part, the Medical Doctor working with DCWA organization, Adut Arkangelo said they organized themselves as a group of women to do some minor upkeep and charity work at Al-Sabah children hospital.
“This program was supposed to be in Christmas but due to renovation it took long. That’s why we come here today to open it and to give this small gift to our kids. The kids are the children of South Sudan of which they are our children too,” Adut said.
Dr. Adut further said that, the charitable work is from Women organization who are mainly women, however they were supported by some benevolent men.
“We thought we need to engage in the society as part of corporate social responsibility. With the little that we have, we contribute it till the end of the year and it help in doing something,” added.
Roof Over the Head media person Malek Arol Dhieu said that they are engineers who are tasked to construct houses, build staff and renovate Hospitals and other structures.
“We are delighted to renovate this department and today we are handing it over to the administration of Al-Sabah Children hospital,” he said.
He further noted that Al-Sabah was not the only health facility that they have done renovation of wards and buildings, they also did similar renovation at Juba Teaching Hospital.
