ARC CEO, staff survive terrible road accident in Aweil

At least seven staff of the African Resources Corporation, or ARC national road Construction Company survived a terrible motor accident on Monday night at Panjap road while heading from Aweil South County to Aweil Town.

The Aweil hospital Medical Director, Wol Wol Aken who confirmed the incident told No.1 Newspaper on Wednesday that the seven were rushed to Aweil town with one survivor having a terrible bleeding in the mouth.

He disclosed that the Chief Executive Office, of ARC Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel was among the seven people onboard the ARC’s convoy returning from Warrap, but fortunately he sustained minor injury.

“At around 7:30pm I got a call from the traffic people (police) asking me to issue the ambulance to the scene of the accident. I sent the ambulance and two didn’t come but the rest came by ambulance. The one who has a complicated problem is the staff whose teeth felt off. But the rest are okay,” he narrated.

The medical director revealed that the accident survivors were airlifted to Juba for further medical attention adding. “They were stable though”.

Wol said he learned the cause of the accident was due to men who were reportedly working on the road, putting the marram or gravels on the highway that made the ARC convey to get the accident.

He said they got updates through the medics in Juba that the staff are responding well to treatment in the Juba teaching hospital.
