Adil pleads with UN to reinforce refugees, IDPs return

The Governor of Central Equatoria state Emmanuel Adil Anthony has appealed to the humanitarian and development partners to consolidate the state governments efforts on the return strategy to expedite return of the internally displaced persons and refugees in the neighboring countries of Uganda and Dr. Congo to enable them return to their places of origin.

This came in when a delegation of the United Nations led by the advisor to the secretary General, Mr. Robert Piper, met and briefed Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony on the mission’s preparedness efforts on tackling issues of former protection of civilian’s sites (POCs) following governments declaration as centers for internally displaced persons with the already improved peace prevailing in the country.

The office of the Governor in a statement on its Facebook page, said Adil also echoed the state government strategic direction on dignified return of the people which is anchored in the three pillars of security stabilization, social services and revival of the economy.

Meanwhile advisor to the UN secretary general, Mr Robert Piper affirmed the UN mission’s commitment towards consolidating the government’s efforts on operationalizing modalities on dignified return of the internally displaced persons and settle them to their places of origin to enable them rebuild their livelihoods and take part in the daunting nation building.
