Archbishop Ameyu shames irresponsible men

The Metropolitan Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba has slammed men for abandoning responsibilities upon women to shoulder the burden of upbringing children, single handedly.

Archbishop Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla noted during a Homily at St. Mary’s Immaculate Parish-Terekeka on Sunday, that the act deviates from the Biblical mandate rendered by the Supreme Being.

”Some men after producing 8 or 6 children will disappear from their responsibility of raising up the kids. They will not be found any longer, leaving the mothers to struggle, to take care of the children”, the Archbishop said.

The critique, during the ordination ceremony of a new Catholic priest said, the reason why people suffer in South Sudan was due to irresponsibility and lack of care by those entrusted.

“Shame on you men who run away from responsibilities.  How can you confess that you are a good shepherd? You are a father in the house?” he inquired.

The cleric reminded parents that to be a good shepherd, they have to play by their role of feeding and up bring the children.

“To become a good shepherd calls for responsibility and caring for our children.”  the Archbishop stressed.

Archbishop Ameyu called upon parents and Government officials to emulate Jesus Christ in readiness to suffer for their people.

“You must be ready to lay your life for the sheep whom you are commanding and caring and together we can struggle to win our poverty,” he cited.
