South Sudan Red Cross has donated 19 cartons of oral rehydration salt (ORA) to Rubkona County health facility as in-kind gesture to commemorate the International Red Cross Day, in Unity State.

Ruai Bang Teny, Head of South Sudan Red Cross, Bentiu branch, said the donation helps the health facility to save lives of people suffering from diarrhea as a result of drinking unclean water.

“Our purpose of donating oral rehydration salt is to save lives of the most vulnerable people suffering from acute diarrhea,” Teny told No.1 Citizen Daily Newspaper at Rubkona County health facility.

On 8th May, South Sudan Red Cross -Bentiu branch joined the rest of the world in commemorating the International Red Cross Day.

“We are supporting the community and we will continue to support them because it’s our mandate,” Teny said after participating in a cleaning exercise at Rubkona health facility.

Jal Kuol Malow, Rubkona County health director, welcomed the consignment, saying the medical handout came at the right time to help vulnerable children suffering from diarrhea.

“As a county health director, I appreciate South Sudan Red Cross for the oral rehydration salt because it will help vulnerable children who are already admitted in the health facility,” Malow said.

Last year, South Sudan Red Cross donated washing soap, mosquito nets and blankets to Bentiu prison.
