NBGs:  Short skirmish leaves police officer, others injured

A slight disagreement that sparked off among a section of boys at Madhol payam in Aweil East County has left a police officer and others nursing injuries.

The police officer identified as Makol Ajor who is nursing a swollen face the incident that happened on Tuesday evening.

Ajor recounted that he had rushed with colleagues to the scene of fight to quell the skirmish, unfortunately, only for him to land on a fate.

“My colleague policemen stormed to control the fight. As I tried to separate and catch the boys who were fighting, a boy threw a brick, hitting my face,” Ajor narrated his encounter.

The police officer said he became unconscious, bleeding terribly and was rushed to Malualkon hospital for rescue.

Ajor said the boys the boys started a fighting after a quarrel in a gambling game which later attracted their parents and relatives.

He recalled that the father of a boy identified as Agok joined his sons to beat other boys who were also badly harmed.

According to the police officer, a woman, identified as Abuong, was equally injured while attempting to calm the situation.

“She was also hurt in the face, but her condition is mild. Her children started beating the mother of the boys terribly as well and it has become a criminal case now” Ajor explained.

Officer Ajor said he had filed a case against the boys who were remanded but later released on bail and one still is being detained at Wanyjok police station.

He said Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police force had launched probing the case and they were waiting for the judge to call them court.

Ajor added that the father of the boys who hit him has also opened a case against the mother of the girls who battered his wife, saying she needs compensation or else the issue flares up once again in revenge.
