Two dead, one injured in Cueibet Road accident

At least two people have died, and one sustained injury after a motorcycle carrying four (4) passengers was hit by a vehicle loaded with business items from Juba to Wau.

The accident, on Monday 15th May 2023 in Cueibet County, occurred at 10:00Am.

Acting police spokesperson in Lakes State, Moses Machuoc Bol identified the dead accident victims as Madeng Monypen Ater and Emmanuel Aluong Deng meanwhile, 25 years old, Magoor Chol was injured.

“The motorbike rider was carrying 4 Passengers, and both of them died on spot during the accident. Only one passenger and the rider have survived”, he said.

Machuoc, who is also the police deputy director of traffic, said the survivors of the accident include the cyclists, Ater kokde Rok, and vehicle driver, Mohammed Abdalla Mahammed.

He said the injured has been admitted to Rumbek State hospital.

The police officer urges cyclists not to carry 4 passengers on a motorcycle, saying they should cease over loading, when travelling to far distances.

Peter Makoi, traffic police investigator, who visited the scene of accident, told No. 1 Citizen Daily Newspaper that carburetor of the vehicle and motorcycle got serious damages.

According to the police officer, as investigation is ongoing, the vehicle once repaired, will immediately be taken to police custody.
