Three Obongi rescue team members, missing on Sunday while in search of a police officer who dived into River Nile have been rescued alive.

The 3 disappeared at around 6pm after the boat they were sailing in capsized in the river due to strong waves.

They were part of 15 crew members volunteering to search for Justin Rubangkene, the Police officer who committed suicide by diving into the river, on Saturday night.

It is said the 3 wore the lifesaving jackets something that is believed to have kept them floating alive.

Ignatius Dragudu, the police PRO for Northwest Nile region told No. 1 Citizen Daily Newspaper that the search speed boat capsized at 6:00 pm due to heavy rains and strong winds.

Identities of the three missing persons are yet unknown after their rescue.

In April this year, Ministry of health (MOH) procured a boat ambulance to strengthen health service delivery in Madi sub region.

The boat ambulance with registration 001 has been stationed to serve the districts like Moyo, Adjumani, Obongi and even beyond during emergency response for referrals.

Uganda police reports that more than four police officers have committed suicide within the same month.
