South Sudan Oil & Power 2023 conference and exhibition, expected on 14th-16th June, is set to host a series of keynote presentations from international and national ministerial delegates.
Scheduled for three days, the conference will take place in South Sudan’s capital Juba.
South Sudan Oil & Power (SSOP) 2023 conference and exhibition event will be held under the theme, “The Engine of East African Growth”,
SSOP 2023 event is organized by Energy Capital & Power, in partnership with South Sudan’s Ministry of Petroleum.
The conference attracts investors to engage and explore opportunities across the upstream, midstream, mining, power generation and distribution, services and infrastructure sectors.
It demonstrates government’s commitment towards promoting development through petroleum exploration and production while facilitating opportunities for new deals, investments, and relationships.
Hosted by the Government of South Sudan, the conference will feature International Ministerial addresses by Hon. Antonio Oburu Ondo, Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons for Equatorial Guinea; Hon. Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy for Egypt; Hon. Yonis Ali Guedi, Minister of Energy for Djibouti; Hon. Magna Mudyiwa, Deputy Minister of Energy and Power Development for Zimbabwe; and Ntokozo Ngcwabe, Deputy Director General for Mining, Mineral and Energy Policy Development for South Africa’s Department of Mineral Resources and Energy.
Meanwhile the Ministerial Addresses featuring delegates from South Sudan will include Hon. Dhieu Mathok Diing Wol, Minister of Investment; Hon. Martin Abucha, Minister of Mining; Hon. Dier Tong Ngor, Minister of Finance and Planning; Hon. Peter Marcello Nasir, Minister of Energy and Dams; and Hon. Puot Kang Chol, Minister of Petroleum.
This year’s conference comes on the point of numerous advancements in South Sudan’s energy sector, with the East African country poised to emerge as the cornerstone for energy development in the East Africa, Middle East and North African, and Central African regions.

Oil & Power (SSOP) conference and exhibition is celebrating its sixth anniversary as the nation’s official energy event.
The theme for this year’s occasion positions South Sudan as the nexus of petroleum exploration and production, innovation and energy cooperation for East, Middle East and Central African regions.
South Sudan, an emerging central actor in regional energy cooperation, has attracted interest from leading oil and gas players.
Global partners like the United States, China, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Norway, Egypt and Turkey continue to assess development opportunities in the country.
In seeking new upstream partners to develop its oil and gas acreage, South Sudan launched a 14-block licensing round, with licenses expected to be awarded in 2023.
Coming at a critical time in the post-COVID-19, energy transition era, SSOP 2023 will examine South Sudan’s role as the engine of regional energy and economic growth and promote historic deals through a series of panel discussions, presentations, technical sessions, investor meetings and networking functions.
Owing to its pivotal location that bridges the Nile Basin and Rift Valley areas, and the MENA and Sub-Saharan African regions, South Sudan represents the logical exploration and service hub for the entire East African energy industry and the keystone of regional energy security.
