Diplomatic passport recall on road

By Staff Writer

Some top ex-government officials have responded positively to the request to hand over diplomatic, special, and official passports issued to them for duty while holding offices.

This followed government’s request for the former top officials to hand over their diplomatic passports to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Deng Dau Deng Malek, said the request was met positively by the former officials.

Last Friday Minister Deng Dau addressed the Council of Ministers about the necessity for strict enforcement of laws governing the issuance of official, special, and diplomatic passports.

He added that the process of obtaining and using diplomatic, special, and official passports in the Republic of South Sudan has devolved into a laughing matter.

“I would like to inform the public that today I have received some passports from senior former officials. This is good spirit, and I urge others to do the same,” Dau said.

Acting foreign affairs minister continues to urge other former officials and anyone in possession of diplomatic and special passports illegally to comply with the directives and hand them over.

The affected persons are to take the passports to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Directorate of Immigration.
