Juba is an ideal town for the unsystematic

By Joseph Ring Lang

My testimony speaks for itself

This morning, during the rush hours, I came to the main road so as to board a mini public bus that transports passengers to the city center from Gudele 1. More than a week earlier, the Mayor of Juba town had made an administrative decision to put plain-cloth police officers at the place of the bus station to prohibit the bus drivers from parking their buses there, with no alternative parking place for the bus drivers.

In that respect, the Mayor of Juba City Council does not want the bus drivers to park in their old place or along the road which leads to Juba town center. The police officers, authorized to execute his orders keep on harassing continuously the bus drivers. The option left the bus drivers is to keep on begging the police officers to allow them to let their passengers aboard their vehicles.

Today, I decided to approach one of the police officers and ask him – Can I ask you a question, please?

He replied politely – yes you can do so. I then asked him, where do you expect us the passengers to board the busses. He replied, that is a very big an important question which can only be replied by Juba Town Mayor, and he began to move away and was automatically replaced by a younger officer. We struggled with the younger officer until the bus driver filled the bus with passengers.

I then came to the conclusion that Juba town is the ideal place for the unsystematic people. Maybe, I am one of them because I continue to live in it.

That was a glimpse of a very small problem that the mandated authorities decided to create for members of the public while sitting comfortably in their offices smiling, how magnificent they are ruling us, leave alone bigger problems (which are not part of the current presentation).

To conclude, that was a mini peep on the part of South Sudan’s history in the making.
