After meeting the First Vice President Dr. Machar Ambassador Anton said, “We take note of the optimism the Vice President has to implement the Revitalized Peace Agreement and the roadmap.”

“We have also taken note of the clear views on how the region could work for a constructive solution for Sudan,” he added.

Ambassador Anton acknowledged South Sudan for maintaining an open border policy for Sudanese refugees and South Sudanese returnees.

The Norwegian Special Envoy reiterated his country’s unwavering support to South Sudan.

“The basis for Norway’s engagement in South Sudan is our solidarity and support for the people of this country,” Anton assured.

The envoy said that Norway will not change its policy, but remain a partner and friend to the people of South Sudan

As part of the Troika, Norway underscores the importance of regional efforts for ending the crisis in Sudan and the full implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement in South Sudan.

Mr. Anton who had visited Juba in November last year, expressed disappointment earlier over lack of progress for the last seven months.

He stressed the need for increased momentum in the implementation of the Revitalized agreement.
